De Pere Girls Open The Season Strong!
15 State Finishes 1st /13 State Takes 2nd at Waukesha Augustfest
The 15s opened their inaugural DePere season with a tournament championship. In a true team effort Hannah Pavek, Monica Majeski, Kendra Jepson, Kennedy Grovogel, Gretta Arshem, Sophia Dervish, and Riley Simonson combine for 11 goals in four games. The girls mixed up the attack scoring off of corner kicks, break aways, and drop balls. The defense lead by center back Claire Cuene and goalkeeper Jenna Holewinski only allowed one goal the entire tournament.
The 13s got off to a rough start losing Emily Serwin early in the first game. They still managed a tie vs. Kenosha. It set up for a must win game vs. North Shore United. The two teams always play even so they knew it would be a tough game. Even more taxing they were playing without the central midfield leaders Serwin and Lech. Anna Boyd and Lauren Yindra played through injuries. Everyone stepped up big! Katie Nelson got the shutout and the girls won 2 to 0.

Team Highlights!!

The U-14 Boys attended the MSC Soccerfest 2010 tournament in Menomonee Falls, and left with first place in hand. Our defense only allowed three goals in the tournament! Ethan Schneider recorded his first shutout of the season with help from Jeremy Vercauteren, Kyle Wisniewski, Nathan Faust and Kaleb Halbmaier securing the wall. The midfield seemed to be the dominant force, controlling the ball and creating goal scoring opportunities. Tony Tanzi, Mike Falk, and Eric DeSormeau helped to secure our flanks and added width to the attack. Brady Lenius, Collin Niccum and Levi Haight worked the dynamic trio to perfection in the middle. Jack Meyer truly was our 12th man of the tourney, coming into the game to control problem areas and adding some amazing passes. Our efforts resulted in ten goals in the tourney (Ethan Kenney-4, Jake Hakari-2, Avery Pomasl-2, Brady Lenius-1, Reedan Abid-1). It was a great team effort and a good starting point for the season ahead. A special thanks to Jake Hakari and Reedan Abid for their help! Good luck to you this year! Our first state league game is on 9/18 against Madison 56ers White. Wish us luck! Click here to see pictures from the tournament!

Highlights from the week of 5/30-6/5/10:
6/3/10: The De Pere Select U13B beat Fondy Frenzy 6-0. We were definitely ready for the game, as we started the scoring in the very first minute of the game. Off Fondy's tap, we stole the ball, got it to Tony Tanzi, who kept it moving to Osvaldo Ramirez. Osvaldo slotted it through to Avery Pomasl, and with a first time shot, we scored in 45 seconds. The next goal would take us a little bit longer. In the 18th minute, a give and go between Osvaldo Ramirez and Levi Haight left Osvaldo with one man to beat. One quick move, and a shot to the left corner put us up 2-0. In the 27th minute, Levi ran through Fondy's defense with some fancy footwork, and earned a penalty kick that he would put away. Towards the end of the first, we added another goal with Levi Haight giving a quick pass to Osvaldo, who got his head up to find Avery Pomasl with a through ball, and ended with Avery putting it away. In the second half, Jack Meyer opened up the scoring off a corner from Levi, with a rocket in the upper right corner. Later in the half, we ended the scoring. In the 20th minute, Levi crossed the ball to Osvaldo, and with two quick touches, he put us ahead 6-0 which would end the game. Kyle Wisniewski, Blaise Wentz, and Ty Dutkowski all played iron man soccer in the back, along with the help of our star keeper Ethan Schneider, and held Fondy to a shut out. This was the third game in a row our defense has held our opponent to a shut out!
Highlights from the week of 5/23-5/29/10:
5/24/10: De Pere Select U13B won vs Oshkosh United, 3-0. The scoring started in the 16th minute, when Matt Willems served the ball to Avery Pomasl, who headed the ball past the keeper. In the 23rd minute, Osvaldo Ramirez won the ball on a clearance, and put it away. In the second half, we added one more goal when Tony Tanzi gave a great ball to Levi Haight, who slotted it through to Osvaldo Ramirez, who put it away. The game ended 3-0. 5/24/10: The De Pere Select U16B won 3-1 with just 9 players. In the afternoon heat, everyone dug deep behind Jacob Schnell to score three first half goals. An amazing effort all around, with Paul Frank playing with what turned out to be a broken nose. This is a team the younger kids should be watching!
Highlights from the week of 5/16-5/22/10:
5/19/10: De Pere Select U12B won 3-0 vs Kiel. Alex Priebe's Cruyff and left foot cross to Cameron Knight, who hit a one time shot, started the scoring for us in the first half. In the second half, we extended the lead off a mighty McGinley cut with the right and shot with the left to make it 2-0. A little later in the half Joao Pedro Catao put the ball through to Cameron Knight, who added his second, and our last goal of the game.
5/20/10: The De Pere Select U13B beat New Holstein Kickers 11-0! The scoring started midway through the first half, as Kaleb Halbmaier sent a ball over the top into space for Avery Pomasl to run on to and put away. Then the pace of the game picked up. In the 24th minute, Levi Haight and Osvaldo Ramirez combined with a give and go to put one in the far post. In the 26th minute, Kaleb Halbmaier got involved again, with a long ball to Levi Haight, who flicked it on to Osvaldo Ramirez, who controlled the ball and put it away. Towards the end of the game, Osvaldo Ramirez dropped the ball to Jeremy Vercauteren, who put it away in the top shelf. In the second half the scoring really opened up, with a goal in the first 2 minutes off a corner. Matt Willems slotted the ball in, then we continued to put the pressure on. Osvaldo Ramirez had a 30 yard shot in the 10th minute that he put away in the upper 90. Next, Osvaldo Ramirez won the ball off a goal kick, beat one defender, then slid the ball to Levi Haight, who finished. The next goal came from some great defending, as Ty Dutkowski won the ball and played it to Jeremy Vercauteren, and with one move and a 30 yard shot, he added another goal. Then in the 25, Jake Theado slotted the ball through the defense to Osvaldo Ramirez, who put it away. The game ended with two more goals, one by Tony Tanzi on a 30 yard shot, and the other off a throw-in from Jake Theado to Levi Haight, who hit it far post to end the scoring.

It wasn't til the end of the first half when we responded back on a break away that Noah Tanzi hammered in. It was a back and forth game for the remainder, ending in a 1-1 tie.
