De Pere Select - Juniors Academy (U8 & U10)

Welcome to the De Pere Select - Juniors Academy

The De Pere Select Juniors Academy will officially begin in August of 2012. Our Juniors Academy will be an official Wisconsin Youth Soccer accredited Youth Academy. Wisconsin Youth Soccer accredited Youth Academies have to meet Licensing (for coaches) as well as best practices requirements, and will continue to be monitored by Wisconsin Youth Soccer Directors of Coaching.

De Pere Select registration for all U8 and U10 Boys and Girls Youth Academy players is currently open. Generally players in the De Pere Select Juniors Academy program will turn age 7-10, after July 31, 2012. All players interested will be accepted to our Youth Academy, there are NO TRYOUTS. We promise to train and develop your sons and daughters following best practices set forth by US Youth Soccer and Wisconsin Youth Soccer.

The Wisconsin Youth Soccer Association identified 18 member clubs as Accredited Youth Academies. Youth Academies are player development methods for U-8 and U-10 players. The characteristics of Youth Academies are a focus on pool rostering of players with flexile game day play. It also provides a higher level of training for the players desiring a more advanced development model. In addition, the Youth Academy receives assessment and oversight by the WYSA Directors of Coaching.

In order to achieve accreditation, a club is assessed on the structure of their current or potential academy program that includes the coaching education and license level of the director of coaching, trainers, and other coaches associated with the program. In addition, their training program(s) and methods (sessions per week, training calendar, coaching methods and environments) are examined. Finally, The WYSA Directors of Coaching observe player development methods and team training sessions with post observation assessment meeting (s) aimed at providing quality feedback to enhance current or projected academy programs.

Jim Launder, WYSA Director of Coaching says, “With the advent of the Youth Academy programs here in Wisconsin we are beginning a new golden age of development for young soccer players. Not only will this programming allow for the more complete training and playing of games within a format that supports development, it will also enhance the enjoyment of the players and their families alike. We look forward to an evolving Youth Academy program which will complement our other programs in Wisconsin to help young players develop in soccer.”

The inaugural member clubs, currently accredited are:

Bavarian Soccer Club
Croatian Eagles Soccer Club

“This program was piloted several years ago to help clubs strengthen the player development processes they use for younger players to enhance the player’s skills and enjoyment of the game.” says Peter Mariahazy, President of WYSA. “The Youth Academy has been a natural progression to the recently initiated Developmental Academy for older players. It has become clear that the academy model for youth is utilized around the world and helps young players advance through training and coaching. This is without an overemphasis on competition and games.”
The Wisconsin Youth Soccer Association is a member of the US Youth Soccer Association, the largest youth sports association in the country.
