This fall Wade Dozier enrolled in the USSF National C License course in Milwaukee. He then applied for the Wisconsin Youth Soccer Associations one scholarship for the C course to cover the over $1,500 cost for the course. Wade was awarded the scholarship out of all applicants in the state, the scholarship covers the costs of the course if you pass and receive your license! When asked why he wanted to attain his C license, coach Wade said, “I would like to be a full-time soccer coach and I want to continue to learn new techniques and ideas for teaching the game”.
The National C License course was a 4-month endeavor that started in July, spending a week in Milwaukee, learning and practicing the coaching principles from experts. Over the next 2 ½ months, Wade had to put into practice what he learned and complete 10 assignments. These assignments typically take 4-6 hours each to complete. They range from analyzing game footage to video taping his own practice and sending it in for review. He then had to return to Milwaukee in early October to be tested over a 3-day period, to see if he met the United States Soccer Federation standards to be considered a C licensed coach.
Coach Wade entered the coaching world when he was a Junior in high school, helping to coach a Under 11 team in his local town. After his playing career he wanted to stay involved in the game he loves, and he began pursing a coaching career.
Coach Wade was informed a few weeks ago that he passed the course and is now considered a C license coach. When asked what he enjoyed most about the course, coach Wade responded “I really enjoyed watching the different coaching techniques and styles of coaches from all over the Midwest. I learned a lot from the different coaching perspectives at the course. How an Academy Director looks at players differently then a club coach and how that differs from a Director of Coaching perspective. Each level has a different priority and provided different insights into player development.”
Coach Wade has been coaching 7 years and has been with De Pere Select for the last 3 ½ years. He has had the pleasure of coaching kids at the Academy level all the way through the High School level. He enjoys working with players to help them grow in a sport they love.
Congratulations Coach Wade on receiving your
USSF National C License!!!!
